Confusing jargon blamed for the financial crisis
Last month, the Plain English Foundation reported that corporate jargon was partly responsible for the global financial crisis. Mortgage contracts and other financial documents became so confusing that the words sent the numbers spiralling out of control.
Like the language experts at the Plain English Foundation, at Wordplay we also support using clear, simple language in any form of communication.
Our professional writers have helped many of our clients turn corporate and technical jargon into concise, easy-to-understand and effective copy. Contact us to find out how we can help you communicate better with plain English copywriting and editing.

Why it’s important to update your online content
We’ve been so busy writing copy for our clients, that we neglected our own online copy. So, to put things right, we thought we should highlight the importance of updating online content regularly.
Fresh content appeals to your visitors and search engine robots. Your visitors want reassurance that things are happening in your business and, likewise, search engines like to see that your content is up-to-date and worthy of a top spot in search results.
Search engine spiders regularly ‘crawl’ the web and update their website indexes. New information which relates to what people are searching for online makes your website more relevant and helps it get higher search rankings.
Our copywriters can help you develop effective website copy, newsletter content and latest news, so you always have something new to add to your website.

Great content always wins
You can invest as little or as much as you like in getting your website to look good, but at the end of the day, its success relies on the quality of your content. And if the quality is sub-standard, chances are, your web site won’t enjoy its full potential success.
Websites fail for various reasons; but one of the most common reasons is poor content - too long, too complicated, poorly written or aimed at someone other than your target customer. You don’t want your content to be any of these. With targeted and optimised content, you can engage your visitors and improve your site’s search engine rankings.
Learn about the power of effective copy in the web content section of our website.

Whether a customer or staff member, if your reader understands your point quickly and easily, that document is working for you, not against you. Efficient writing saves you money.

Wordplay SEO customer jumps to front page Google listings
The team at Ningaloo Whaleshark-n-Dive love their job, and why wouldn’t they? They take people diving and snorkelling around the spectacular Ningaloo Reef every day.
However, they hit a snag in the water – the Ningaloo team had a great-looking new website, but were still struggling to get visitor hits to their website, and therefore internet bookings. It wasn’t being found by searchers using Google and other search engines.
Our Wordplay copywriters and web team took their existing website content and Search Engine Optimised it using Ningaloo Whaleshark-n-Dive’s chosen keywords. Now they’re front page on Google for their top terms. Search Google for ‘whale shark diving’ and see their site, http://www.ningaloowhalesharkndive.com.au, appear as the fourth listing; ahead of many of their competitors.
